Unity’s Five Foundation Principles

The Omnipresence of God

There is only One Presence and One Power in the entire Universe. That one presence and power is God. And GOD IS! Absolute and unchanging good. There is no situation where God is not present. The substance of God is the source of all our needs. It is the essence of God’s goodness out of which “we live and move and have our being”.

The Divinity of Mankind

Unity believes that each one of us has within us, that same divine potential that Jesus Christ expressed fully. That we are here on earth to discover our true “I AM” nature and to express it as fully as we can at any given moment. It is our divine inheritance to live a happy and prosperous life.

Thoughts are Powerful

We have been gifted “Free Will to Choose our Thoughts”. Through the “Law of Mind Action”, we have the power to change any negative thoughts and to affirm the good we desire to manifest in our life and for the good of all in our world.

Practicing the Presence

Prayer and meditation is communion with God. Our mind is the connecting link to the mind of God. We practice resting in the presence of God, creator of all good, as we become still in the silence. Through prayer we lift from negative thoughts into a higher realm of “Oneness with God” where God is creative energy, universal law of life, love, peace and abundance. Resting in the stillness beyond thought, we receive the gifts of God to nurture and guide us forward on our spiritual and human journey.

Living and Demonstrating the Truth

By applying the above four principles in every aspect of our daily living means that we live the rich fulfilled life that we believe God intended for us all. We step forward in faith, assured that we are never alone. That God is with us and in charge and all is well.
